Yoshi joins Mario as they traverse a wild variety of galaxies exploding with imagination, helping out our hero as he gulps enemies, runs at super speed, or inflates like a blimp to reach high cliff tops. Whether Mario’s leaping into orbit around tiny micro-planets, tumbling through rooms with constantly flip-flopping gravity, or drilling through craggy worlds to emerge on the other side, he’ll need new abilities and serious jumping skills to survive the all-new challenges ahead! | | | Features: | |
• Skilled players will want to collect new Comet Metals, which will unlock harder levels with even more challenges
• Mario collects stars as he travels from galaxy to galaxy, sometimes upside-down, sometimes floating from place to place. Every level is new, but the game retains the charm, sense of wonder and beauty in line with Mario's history
• On some stages, Mario can find an egg, smash it open and hop onto the back of Yoshi. Yoshi can use his tongue to grab items and shoot them back at enemies, or to snag attach points and swing across chasms
• Yoshi has an interesting diet. When he eats a Dash Pepper, he gets so hot and frenzied he can run up steep inclines and vertical walls. When he eats a Blimp Fruit, he inflates like a balloon and floats to new heights
• New power-ups include a drill that Mario uses to tunnel through the planet's surface all the way to the other side of a planet

Classic Mario with a Twist...Sep 09, 2010 There isn't much to say about Mario Galaxy 2 except that if you have loved his games before, you will love this as well. The first Galaxy was great, but I am so glad that Yoshi has made his return in this installment. There is a great mix of both old school side-scrolling levels and 3D worlds ranging from easy to super difficult. Luckily on the hard levels, Nintendo has placed check points to help you get through without any anxiety...
Greatu game and surprisingly fun for 2Sep 07, 2010 This is a great game. I liked the first Super Mario Galaxy. I love Super Mario Galaxy 2.
Since plenty of reviews have preached this game's virtues since it's release, I want to focus on one thing in particular which has been underplayed in my opinion. The two player mode in Galaxy 2 is great, in the right circumstances. For two gamers, I can see how it isn't that much fun. But for a gamer and non-gamer, or gamer and young child, the two player mode is a blast and adds so much to the game. My girlfriend and I play the game together. I bought it as a single player game, planning on playing it alone. I bought New Super Mario Bros Wii around the same time so that we'd have something to play together. We've played some of that, but since she's a casual gamer, she gets frustrated by dying in the game.
We tried the two player mode in Galaxy 2 out of curiosity. During the first level, I didn't really think she'd like it, there didn't seem to be that much to do and it didn't seem to be all that helpful to have a second player. But she did like it so we continued playing and the more we did, the more fun she had with it. And not only that, but having her playing really is helpful. I'm a decent but not great gamer and Galaxy 2 is definitely more difficult than the first Galaxy game. There were levels I definitely would have struggled with had she not been playing. She enjoys helping and doesn't have to worry about getting frustrated by dying.
The second player can do a few things.
1. Pointing at the screen and collecting star bits, in the same manner as player one would. This is helpful because it means I can focus more on the platforming and not as much the collection aspect, which again is helpful on harder levels.
2. Pointing at the screen and pressing A to collect coins, 1 up mushrooms, etc. This can be really useful to collect things in areas that are not easy to get to. Also very useful on stages with coins that require speed collecting, which we find very fun.
3. Pointing at enemies and pressing A to freeze or kill enemies. She can either kill smaller enemies or freeze bigger ones in place, like chain chomps or firebars. Very useful on difficult levels, I'd have trouble avoiding all of the enemies without her help.
Again, the two player mode isn't meant for two gamers but it's a great fit for one gamer and one non/semi-gamer. The game as a whole is a blast and all Wii owners should play it.

It's A fun game for oneSep 06, 2010 Yes the game is fun and there is room for a second player but the second player really doesn't do much. The second player is just a shadow of the first player. I wish I didn't purchase this game for my four kids.
Great purchaseSep 05, 2010 This is a great game. I bought the "like new" and it it as good as brand new, plus $20 cheaper! It's a lot of fun to play because my boyfriend can play Mario and do all the difficult parts (I'm not near as good with video games as he is) and I can help get prizes and hold back the bad guys. I think without a player 2 to protect you, the game would be really difficult to defeat.
Mario is still the King of Games!Aug 31, 2010 I never in a million years thought this game would be as good as it is! I loved Galaxy 1 and o me Galaxy 1 is still a better game than Galaxy 2, but this game is still amazing and one of the best games I have ever played. Galaxy 2 does everything for the most part perfect. The return of Yoshi is by far my favorite thing about this game, and Nintendo treated Yoshi very good in this game. Each Galaxy is different and fun in it's own way. Bowser looks amazing in this game, but I think the Bowser battles in Galaxy 1 are better than the battle in this game. The music is great in this game but once again I think galaxy 1 had better music. Galaxy 2 is a great game though and is probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite game of all time. I have played video games for over 20 years and this is near the very top of my list. Mario Galaxy 2 puts the crown back on Mario's head as the ultimate king of games, and shows everyone that the hero in a game does not need a gun to be the best around. Mario Galaxy 2 is an amazing game that has 242 stars to collect in all and will challenge you more than any other 3D Mario game. If you own a Wii and are a Mario fan you owe it to yourself to buy this game. Have a great day everyone.
