 Extraction is Worthy - It's better than just a game or just a movie.Aug 22, 2010
It is not a watered down version of Dead Space designed to run on the Wii, but an original game that is true to the Dead Space universe. It looks fantastic. It is not pre-rendered. Yes, it is on rails but light gun emulation games are the strong point of the Wii. Visceral knew what they were doing by playing up the Wii's strongest feature (and also, a feature the PS3 and XBOX 360 have yet to match).
I love Dead Space, but to me Extraction was more fun than the original. If that upsets you it should not. Take it as a sign that the DS dev team at Visceral learns from their experiences and can be extremely effective on any platform ... Dead Space 2 is coming soon and I am teething with anticipation.
I completely agree with a previous poster that stated this game is not getting the attention it deserves. EA really dropped the ball and failed to effectively promote the game. They probably had to get Madden 105 out the door. Worked out great for me personally though as I was able to picked it up less than a month after it's release for $20 new. CRAZY. At current prices it is a steal.
Bottom Line: Extremely Fun (get your head checked if you don't think so), Looks Great, Controls are Fantastic, great story, true to Dead Space, and CHEAP. If you only own a Wii don't buy other shooters before this one. I have played them all and they don't compare.

I'm not going to comment on the visual effects or environments because that's not what makes a game good. What makes a game a good game is how much fun you have playing it. In my opinion, this game has too many cinematic sequences that interrupt and delay your game play. Most of the time, it seemed that these cinematic segments outnumber and outlast the segments of actual playing. Additionally, since your characters are lead along a rail, there is very little room for exploration, despite the cool environments. If you use a Wii zapper, the controls also make it difficult to play since the 'A' button is needed to perform tasks. Using a Nyko Perfect Shot gun makes matters worse because a nunchuk in one hand and the gun in the other leaves no free hand to press the 'A' button. After just a short while of playing this game with a friend, we both were bored by time we reached the third level.

Some of the best visuals available on the Wii system. While I can appreciate what Viceral Games was trying to do with this, it came off as nothing more than fan service and really does feel out of place on the Wii. The limited edition of the PS3 version of Dead Space 2 will include this game for the Move. If you are interested in Dead Space from a story perspective, this is for you, but don't expect ground breaking gameplay.

Bought this game for my wife. I ended up playing two player co-op with her. We played it for hours and laughed and thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and playability of this game. I would recommend to anyone looking for an on the rails shooter with in depth story and replayability.
